Nakamichi 730 Info Page
Last updated July 28, 2013

First of all I'd like to promote my wireless remote receiver for the Nakamichi 730 Receiver. Nakamichi put a 8 pin DIN connector on the back of the receiver for their optional RM-730 IR remote system consisting of the RM-730R (receiver) and the RM-730T (transmitter) remote. Here is a German web site with a picture of the 730 Receiver with the RM-730 System. This system is able to control 9 functions of the receiver, radio preset A, B, C, D, radio tune up & down, volume up & down and power. The original Nakamichi RM-730 is very rare and usually sell for more than the 730 receiver itself. I have duplicated the functionality of the original RM-730 and sell my unit for a fraction of the price of the original. Nakamichi 730 Remote My system has the advantage of being able to use any universal remote so you don't have another remote on your coffee table. Below is a picture of my remote on tope of my personal 730 receiver.

The Nakamichi 730 Receiver came out in 1978 and was discontinued around 1981. At the time it sold for about $1400 which was A LOT of money back then. It featured a very slim clean front panel with no mechanical buttons, only touch sensitive pads. The amplifier section was rated for 105 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms and 150 Watts per channel into 4 Ohms. Dimensions are approximately 20" wide, 3.5" tall and 14.5" deep. Weight is a hefty 38 pounds.

Sounds Good To Me in Houston, TX has one on sale right now for $100. The ad says the tuner section stopped working and it's missing one of the little preset tuning knobs. Here is link to the ad http://www.soundsgoodtomehouston.com/invrec.htm. If it's still available near the end of August I just may buy it myself and fix it.

There was a japanese web site that had brochure pictures and description in Japanese, but, seems to be gone. I'll include the link just in case it comes back. http://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~silencium/datahtml/nakamichi730receiver.html

This isn't 730 related, but, this German web site has great pictures of classic Nakamichi gear from the 80's with a nice description of Nakamichi's history in German. http://www.hifi-studio.de/hifi-klassiker/nakamichi_hifi.htm

Below is a better picture of the original RM-730T remote transmitter by Nakamichi.
